Modbury Caring was set up 11 years ago with the remit to transport patients of Modbury Health Centre, who have no other means of transport, to and from medical appointments. These appointments can be with the Health Centre, or the dentist, optician, chiropodist etc. Since that time we have conveyed over 400 patients per year and in addition to this we take regular monthly prescriptions in 8 outlying villages.
We are a regsitered charity and do not make a charge for services but patients are invited to make a donation each trip, via our drivers, in a small brown envelope.
We reimburse our drivers at 40p a mile and regrettably our outgoings far outweigh our income, so we have to fund-raise continually to keep on an even keel.
We have recently received some very welcome and valuable donations, especially from The Modbury Darts League and the Journey's End Darts team and we are very grateful for these.
We held a Coffee Morning at Bigbury on Sea, we had a stall at the Modbury Fair and we have just completed a Quiz, which was generously sponsored by The Oyster Shack.
We are very grateful to all our supporters and would welcome any other fund raising suggestions.
I am the Co-Ordinator of Modbury Caring and I now work from home and can be contacted on 01548 830118. If I do not answer the phone, please leave your name and number and I will ring you back as soon as possible.
