FAQs about the NHS Health Check
Due to increased demand please be aware that we will require 72 hours / 3 Working Days (Monday – Friday) notice for repeat prescription requests to be processed.
To ensure total patient confidentiality and data security we have to ask you to come into the surgery to confirm your identity and give you your login details and then this will allow you to access your repeat prescriptions
When you order via this way you will be able to see your repeats list and your request for the items will then be added straight away to your clinical notes. This way will ensure total accuracy when issuing your requested repeat prescription
Please ask reception or Dispensary if you would like to have online access to your repeat prescription ordering
Carol Watts and Jill Caddy are our qualified in-house dispensers.
We are a dispensing practice and are able to dispense for patients who live more than a mile from their nearest chemist. We can also dispense to patients who live closer than this but who have difficulty in getting to a chemist.
Should you require a prescription without seeing the doctor, we provide a repeat prescription service. A repeat prescription slip will have a list of medicines and will show which medicines can be supplied without seeing the doctor. The medicine needed should be indicated on the slip and either handed in to the dispenser, posted or faxed to the health centre on (01548) 831478. You can now also order your repeat prescription online
The repeat prescription slip also has a section to indicate where you would like to collect your medicine from - either the Health Centre, the local chemist, or other.
Please allow 72 hours/3 working days notice for all medication. This allows our dispensers time to order supplies and have them ready for your collection.
When requesting medication outside normal dispensing hours, please ask when making your request and arrangements can be made.
Prescriptions for dispensing patients, written by doctors during surgery, will be dispensed immediately if available. Deliveries are available to some outlying areas. Please enquire with either of the dispensers, Carol or Jill

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
